I didn't get to watch this episode until Friday. Even still, I knew that I wanted to write about it. I think I just needed the time to process.

This post could consist of simply: Thank you Shonda.

Thank you Shonda for telling this story.

Thank you Shonda for expressing every black parent's fear in such an authentic way.

Thank you Shonda for showing that community and rioting are not the same thing.

Thank you Shonda for sparking a beautiful and poignant conversation in my own life.

Thank you Shonda for not being afraid to tell this story. It would have been so easy to play it safe and avoid controversy. Instead you took your well-earned influence and gave us the story we needed.

xo.
